DeGolyer Elementary PTA Positions & Committees

VP of Communications - communications@degolyerpta.org

• Facebook - Responsible for posting relevant information to Facebook.
• WhatsApp - Responsible for posting relevant information to WhatsApp.
• Translation Team - Responsible for responding to translation requests in a timely manner.
• Brand Management Team - Responsible for ensuring a cohesive marketing strategy is deployed among all of the PTA’s services and programs.
• Website - Responsible for maintaining the PTA website, including adding/updating pages, calendars, sales forms and other relevant content.
• Yearbook - Coordinate the annual design, production, sale and distribution of the annual DeGolyer Elementary yearbook.

VP of Family Engagement - familyengagement@degolyerpta.org

• Homecoming Pep Rally - Plan, promote and execute creation of a “booth” for the W. T. White homecoming pep rally.
• Fall Fling - Plan, promote and execute the annual event.
• Movie Under the Stars - Plan, promote, and execute a movie night each semester for families.
• Diversabilities Day - Plan, promote and execute a fun run and awareness event at DeGolyer during the spring semester.

VP of Membership - membership@degolyerpta.org

• Lead Homeroom Parent - Recruit and manage communications to room parents for every class. Coordinate creation and collection of class baskets for the Dads Club Auction in April.
• Staff Appreciation - Plan, promote, and execute staff appreciation events throughout the year, especially during teacher appreciation week in May.
• Volunteers - Manage recruitment and tracking of volunteers as needed for PTA events and activities (Tuesday folders volunteers; assisting event committees volunteer with sign ups).

VP of Student Activities - studentactivities@degolyerpta.org

• Pumpkin Contest – Plan, promote, and execute the annual pumpkin contest at the end of October.
• Jingle Bell Run – Work with school representative (usually Coach Reynolds) to plan, promote and execute an annual run-a-thon. 
• Patches – Plan, promote and execute the distribution of patches throughout the year.
• Talent Show – Plan, promote, and execute the annual talent show in February.
• Field Day - Work with Coach Reynolds to ensure she has the needed PTA support for Field Day in May.

VP of Ways and Means - waysandmeans@degolyerpta.org

• Dollars for Dolphins – Plan, promote, and execute the primary PTA annual fundraising campaign in September.
• Grants & Box Tops – Search for and apply to grants or other free funding programs that will benefit the school and its students, including for extracurricular activities. Promote the use of Box Tops to earn money for our school.
• School Supplies – Plan, promote, and execute the purchase of school supplies in the spring and distribution of school supplies in the fall for the upcoming school year.
• Spirit Nights – Plan, promote, and execute monthly DeGolyer fundraiser/spirit nights with local restaurants and/or businesses.
• Spirit Swag – Coordinate the year’s Spirit Shirt and other items. Coordinate advertising, selling, and distribution both online and at in-person events. Maintain inventory as applicable.

DeGolyer Welcoming Committee (DWC) - dwc@degolyerpta.org

• Responsible for helping new families get involved with DeGolyer throughout the year. They plan, promote and execute various events throughout the year.  Examples include, but are not limited to:
• Kinder Pool Party – a chance for incoming kinders and parents to meet other kinder families, teachers, staff, and members of the PTA in early August.
• Back to School Night – an opportunity for all new and returning families to pick up spirit swag, join the PTA, get info on student activities and after school programs etc.
• Cheers & Tears – coordinate a meeting place for parents after they send their kids off for the first day of school. Serves as a social event for parents as they watch the flag raising ceremony and as an opportunity for information sharing by the PTA.

Prospective Parent Committee (PPC) - ppc@degolyerpta.org

• Responsible for promoting our school to families who live in the DeGolyer feeder zone. They plan, promote, and execute various events throughout the year. Examples include:
• Meet & Greet – an off-campus, adult-only event in the fall designed for families in the community who are considering DeGolyer.
• School Tours – in-person and/or virtual tours of DeGolyer.
• Discover DeGolyer (Kinder Round-up) – event in the spring for folks to see what our neighborhood school is all about.
• Dolphin Camp - a springtime event for kids (and their parents) that are joining us for kindergarten for the following school year.
• Little Dolphins – a monthly story/craft time in the library for children not yet old enough to attend DeGolyer.

Graduating Class Activities Committee (GCAC) - dgc@degolyerpta.org

• Responsible for planning, promoting, funding, and executing activities for students graduating from DeGolyer at the end of the current school year. Examples: graduating class t-shirt, end-of-year party, memory book, etc.
